After quick market screening in 2009, Figlo BV (leading software solution provider for the financial industry in the Netherlands) has decided to expand into Eastern Europe/CIS markets. I was requested to lead the marketing activities and support the business development process of the newly founded subsidiary of Figlo BV, Figlo Russia. The following results were achieved under my lead:
Within 6 months the number of sales leads were increased more than 700%. This result was possible to achieve because of my following strategies:
- Fine-tuning of Figlo Russia’s segmentation, value proposition, marketing strategies and sales materials,
- Involving a key eco-system player, Microsoft, in direct marketing campaigns,
- Partnering with several well known local opinion leaders.
Within one year Figlo Russia was published in more than 20 online and offline leading financial publications in Russia. This result was possible to achieve due to my efficient PR and promotional campaigns. At the moment among local Russian financial institutions (banks & insurance organizations) Figlo Russia is regarded as a market leader in providing Personal Finance Management, Financial Advice and Planning software solution.
All these aforementioned efforts led to the following financial results:
- In 2 years time the sales of Figlo Russia went up with more than 3000%.
Additionally my duties included:
- Managing marketing mix elements,
- Managing key customer accounts,
- Managing online marketing & advertising, web site, SEO, and social media,
- Planning & forecasting revenue targets,
- Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and market trends, analyzing consumer needs and business objectives, and interpreting them into new products and solutions,
- Managing various product development processes: Financial Health Checker for Nomos Bank, Russia, and PFM product improvement process for Figlo BV, the Netherlands.

The co-founder and the general director of InvitEast
After conducting feasibility analysis in the region of Enschede, the Netherlands, I identified an untapped business opportunity: Providing software outsourcing services for around 700 companies located around Twente University. I visited several software development companies in Armenia, Ukraine and Russia and signed partnership agreements with the most suitable companies and co-founded InvitEast (a provider of Nearshore Software Outsourcing services).
All marketing, sales and business development strategies of InvitEast was developed by me. Moreover, I was actively involved in customer acquisition process. After successfully realizing several projects, I was offered the aforementioned marketing manager’s position at Figlo and shortly after decided to exit InvitEast.

INVITExpo approached me with a request to identify a new business opportunity in online virtual exhibition market. After conducted extensive market research, I developed the following new business concept for INVITExpo: Providing online virtual exhibition services to face-to-face exhibition organizers as a supplementary tool to enhance the effectiveness of their main face-to-face exhibitions.
I developed a business plan for INVITExpo and was actively involved in raising venture capital for starting the company. Furthermore, I organized a pilot study to verify the newly developed business concept and found a launching customer, VNU Exhibitions, in the Netherlands.
